“Is my building or budget too small to use your services?” This is a question we get often, and the answer is “No!” We can provide engineering and design services for any size building, and we can determine the services that fit best for each project budget. DLI’s primary mission is to positively impact the lives of animals and that can be done in numerous ways with any size building and any budget.
Myth #1 - My building is too small to receive engineering and design support.
We often receive calls or emails from individuals asking if their building is too small for us to be a part of their project. Our response is always that no building is too small. We have worked on animal care facilities larger than 70,000 square feet and as small as 800 square feet. Our goal for every project is to provide our engineering and interior planning services in such a way as to assist you where you need it. We can scale our services up or down as needed.
In terms of the actual engineering and design services that we provide, we review every project individually to determine the best plan of attack. Uniqueness is a key factor in this building type, so DLI’s services must accommodate that in a way that provides clients with the best recommendations for their particular needs. Some animal care projects do not require large facilities, while others may have different programmatic requirements.
Myth #2 - I don’t have a big enough budget to get engineering and design help.
Budget is a concern of every single one of our clients. A majority of clients do not have an unlimited budget! In fact, many clients do not have the budget required to build a new state-of-the-art building from the ground up. Because of this, we offer many different types of services. Yes, we offer full engineering and design services from conceptual design through construction, but we also provide things like drawing reviews, opinions of probable construction cost, engineering and interior planning recommendations, prioritization of improvements to existing facilities, and general animal care consulting services.
Our goal is to provide services that will assist the client where they are and where they want to be in the future. And, for some clients, their budgets, while hard earned, are not where they needs to be for large new construction projects. Many clients have more pressing matters with their business and animal welfare in general to allocate large sums of money to design and building projects.
